Before you submit, make sure your site's links are
all working. Here is a great resource for you! http://www.dead-links.com/
There are a variety of companies out there who will
submit to search engines for a fee. We used to do this before we
saw a trend coming. That trend was when your submitting to the search
engines, they began to add a section where you had to manually type
in a code to make sure you were submitting manually. It looks like
this:
Submit your URL:
Submit this code:
Then put whatever code they ask you for into the
text box:
This is to
ensure that you are who you say you are, and not a submitter.
Another thing to be aware of if you use these submission
sites, is FFA pages or Free For All pages. When you submit to these
types of sites, be prepared to be bombarded with emails. So much
so, that you just start deleting emails willy nilly, and usually,
accidentally, delete good emails as well.
Keep in mind, there are not that many search engines
out there. So what you are really submitting to is a few search
engines, some directories, and thousands of ffa pages.
Google will find your site if you start getting
links to it. We have heard that if you manually submit to Google,
they will penalize you. Possible we suppose.
So if you do utilize these services, make sure what you are getting.
