Next Tip.
Keywords and/or Key Phrases.
Phrases are the best. So widgets is one keyword, widgets in Chicago
is the keyphrase. If you think people are going to search for your
product or service under a certain phrase, be sure to use it.
Now, here is an item you must do. Add the KEYWORDS to your domain
name!
Add a keyword to the title of your site, preferably the very first
word. So let us say your site is all about widgets. Your title has
to include Widgets as the first keyword. Ours is SEO therefore,
our our domain and titles all start with SEO.
Forget the Welcome to our site. That is not going to help you.
Keywords...think Keywords. Do not overdo this. Just have a few
keywords. Remember, you have a whole site you can add your keywords
too.
If you have fancy widgets, this is a page sprinkled with the keyword...what
is it? Fancy Widgets! Correct. And let's say you have another called
jumping photo rings...what's your keywords? Right...jumping photo
rings.
You also want to place your keywords in your source code. Do this
in the meta-tag section. There are a couple of particular importance.
Description of your website, and the keywords section. There are
still a few search engines that utilize the meta-tags. You can never
be sure if Google is going to use them again at a later date as
well. So build it right the first time.
Make sure your keywords are in your webpage as well. It must be
actual paragraphs, not simply keywords jumbled all over the place.
You want your reader, and the search engine to make sense of your
site. If you are placed in the first position in the search engines,
but your sentences or paragraphs don't make any sense, who is going
to buy from you?
So remember use keywords in:
-Your Domain Name
-Title
-Meta-tags
-In your pages
