Next Tip.
DMOZ
Dmoz.org
If you can get in there...do it. It will increase your rank on
Google. Dmoz is a backend database that Google and several other
search engines use. Here is how it works.
Dmoz is owned by Netscape. Netscape is owned by AOL. So that tells
you right there that DMOZ is a must to get into. If you can get
into DMOZ, you do not have to pay to get into any of the other search
engines, because most engines will use DMOZ at some point.
The problem with DMOZ is they are human edited, and not a spider
which crawls your site, or a bot, which is the same thing. A human
editor can reject your site in a heart beat if they don't like your
style, if you are too much competition for that editor, or if your
links are not working, if you have a construction page...etc.
When DMOZ first started it was easy to get into. There were only
a few million pages out there. Now, it is months if not years behind.
With trillions of pages out there, DMOZ needs to find a way of doing
things.
You can try to be an editor, but they reject 95% of the applicants.
We cannot get in it, but you might be able to.
